3 rape cases registered

Ludhiana: The Ludhiana police have registered three rape cases on Friday. In the first case, the Focal Point police have arrested a 22-year-old youth for raping a 20-year-old woman on the pretext of marriage. In her complaint, the woman stated that the accused took her to a hotel in Sherpur, and established a physical relationship with her on the pretext of marriage. But later, when she asked him to marry her, he refused. ASI Satvir Singh, who is investigating the case, said the police registered a case against the accused immediately after receiving the complaint, and arrested him.
In another incident, Model Town police booked an accused Suraj Kumar (25), for kidnapping a 14-year-old girl and raping her. A case under sections 363 (punishment for kidnapping), 366-A (procuration of minor girl) and 376 (rape) of the IPC, and sections 3 and 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act has been registered against the accused. In his complaint to the police, the girl’s father alleged that the accused kidnapped his daughter on September 6 on the pretext of marriage. The girl came back on Friday, and said the accused had raped her.
In third incident incident, the Meherban police arrested a man for attempting to rape a married woman of the same locality. The 20-year-old woman, in her complaint to the police, said when she was sleeping in her room, the accused (who is her neighbour) barged in, and attempted to rape her, but when she raised an alarm, he fled from the spot. A case has been registered by the Meharban police.
