Cop’s son booked for raping minor

PATIALA: The son a policeman was booked on Saturday for allegedly raping a minor girl when she was found four-month pregnant after being admitted to the local government hospital on Saturday.
A case has been registered under Section 376 (rape) of the IPC and sections 4, 8 and 12 of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act.
According to the complaint filed with the police, it was alleged that the accused allegedly lured the minor girl and started taking her to different places. He allegedly repeatedly raped her over a period of time.
The matter came to light when the 14-year-old developed complications and reported pain in her stomach. On being taken to the doctor, she was diagnosed to be four-month pregnant. Following that, her parents coaxed her into revealing the name of the accused and reported the matter to the police.
According to the police, the case has been registered but the accused was yet to be arrested.
Patiala superintendent of police (city) Kesar Singh said the matter would be put before the court for a decision on the termination of the girl’s pregnancy.
Man booked for attempting to rape daughter
In another incident, Patiala police have booked a man for attempting to rape his daughter. According to the police, the accused spiked a cold drink and gave it to his daughter and tried to sexually assault her. However, some of the neighbours entered the house and caught him before he could harm the young girl. Police have recorded the statement of the girl on the basis of which a case under Section 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC and sections 10, 12 of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act has been registered. Police are yet to arrest the accused.
