HISAR: Four days after a professor of Hisar-based Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural Universit, was arrested for allegedly raping and threatening his 16-year-old Dalit house help, police claimed he was framed and named five others, including the minor and her family, for extortion.
The girl and her younger brother were detained and their mother arrested on Saturday along with a co-accused, Jaideep, for allegedly implicating the professor in the case to extort money. Another accused Deepak, and student of the professor’s wife in a D Pharmacy course, are yet to be arrested, said cops.
Hisar DSP Amarjeet Singh said a case was registered under relevant sections of the IPC against the accused on the complaint of the professor’s wife.
In her complaint, the professor’s wife said Deepak had sent the girl to be employed at their home. She alleged that he had called her to settle the rape case against her husband for Rs 25 lakh. Later Jaideep made her speak to the girl’s mother, who demanded Rs 10 lakh to settle the case against her husband.
