Four women were allegedly raped by criminals at Jewar-Bulandshahr highway on Thursday.
Greater Noida, May 25: A man was shot dead and four women were allegedly raped by a group of 5-6 criminals at Jewar-Bulandshahr highway on Thursday near Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh. The criminals even robbed the family of eight of cash and valuables, as suggested by TV reports.
According to reports, the crime has been carried out by ‘axle gang’ while is active in the region. They are an accused in the last year’s Bulandshahr gangrape case. Meanwhile, the police have registered a murder and loot case however, the official say that a rape case cannot be filed until the medical reports of the women victims are out.
How the case unfolded:
Eight members of a family – four women, two men and two children – were travelling from Jewar in Greater Noida to Bulandshahr to meet an ailing relative.
Around 1.30 am, the vehicle in which the family was travelling was intercepted by a gang of 5-6 criminals. As soon as the vehicle stopped, the men attacked the family looting them of around Rs 44,000 cash, jewellery and valuables at gun point.
Speaking to News18 Hindi, a victim informed that the criminals tied their hands and legs and forcefully took the four women in the fields where they allegedly raped them.
The criminals shot one of the two men dead after he raised objection. Identified as Shakeel Qureshi, he also tried to intervene as the criminals misbehaved with the women.
Soon after receiving the information about the crime, the police launched a manhunt to nab the culprits. The SSP along with other police officials reached the spot assured a strict action. Jewar MLA Thakur Dhirendra Singh also visited a local hospital to meet the affected family.
The police, as of now, have registered a murder and loot complaint and have sent the women for medical examination. The reports of same are awaited.
