Swami’s arrest recorded, ‘attempt to rape at knife point’

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In the case in which a rape attempt was made against a law student at Pettah, police have recorded the arrest of accused, the 54-year-old Ernakulam Kolenchery native Sreehari aka Gangeshananda Teerthapadar.

He is under treatment in Thiruvananthapuram Medical College, and under intense police guard.

Medical College CI said case was filed against Swami for attempting to rape the girl under knifepoint.

The girl, who tried to put up a strong fight against Swami, was dragged to a room and was about to be raped when she suddenly snatched the knife from him and cut off his genital.

Meanwhile, despite speculations that a case has been registered against girl for causing injury with a weapon, the police clarified that no case has been registered against the girl.
