Two arrested in minor rape case

Vizianagaram: The police arrested two persons involved in a gang rape occurred at Seethanagaram mandal in the district recently. According to police, M Indumathi of Reddayyavalasa in Bobbilim mandal, was found dead in a water tank of Gadelavalasa village in Seethanagaram mandal on September 2.
After investigation, the police came to know that she was raped by some unidentified persons. Even the Chief Minister also reacted sharply and instructed Superintendent of Police P Palaraju and others to arrest the accused as soon as possible.
Addressing the media here on Wednesday, SP P Palaraju and Bobbili DSP P Sowmya Latha said that they arrested P Sankara Rao for raping and killing the minor and S Lokesh who had earlier harassed her. Indumathi, a Class X student has a friendly relationship with S Lokesh and had spent some time with him on September 1 nearby school.
P Sankara Rao had witnessed that and blackmailed her into either perform sexual favour or threatened that he would reveal the incident in the village.
Later, he took her to an isolated place near jute farm at Gadelavalasa high school and raped her. Fearing that she might disclose the issue to her parents, he strangled her with a dupatta and killed her and threw the body in the water tank. During the investigation, the police caught the duo and produced them before the media.
