Two minor boys on Friday were detained in connection with the alleged rape and murder of a 16-year-old girl on Thursday behind a multi-storey building in Anantpura police station of the city. According to police, one of the two accused, with the help of his cousin, had allegedly murdered the girl just because she had rejected his advances a few days ago. The two accused were late on Thursday evening produced before the Juvenile Justice Board that ordered to send them to children home.
Notably, a half naked body of a minor girl, identified as Neha Udiya, was found on Thursday morning in the Bardha (stony ground) in Udiya Basti, said Circle In Charge (CI), Anantpura police station Anil Joshi. The girl had gone to play dandiya at a nearby pandal on Wednesday night. Both the accused are cousins and one of them, had a few days ago, gone to girl’s house and threatened her family for rejecting his advances.
On Wednesday night, one of the accused saw the girl playing dandiya with another boy. Enraged by this sight, he called his cousin and the two conspired to kill the girl, the CI said. They, on some pretext, called the girl out and took her to an isolated place. After raping her, they crushed her head with a heavy stone, he said, adding the two accused in order to stifle her cries for help had tied her mouth with her pyjama. The pieces of dandiya sticks and the broken ankle chains, scattered at the spot indicate that the victim had struggled against the accused, the CI said. The two minor boys have been booked under sections 376, 302 of IPC and sections of POCSO Act, the CI said.
