NOIDA: A 24-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by two men, including her co-worker, after he promised to help her out with her rent, in Phase 3 on Friday. The accused took her to an unknown location and raped her with an accomplice at night. The accused are absconding. The woman, who hails from Pilkhuwa in Hapur, stays in a rented accommodation in Mamura village. She is working at an export company for the past two years in Sector 62.
The woman said she needed some money to pay her rent. “I shared my financial problem with a co-worker, Akash, and he promised to arrange Rs 2,000 for me,” she said, adding that the accused contacted her on phone on Friday evening. He told her he would arrange the money from a friend, Anil Kumar.
Akash asked the woman to arrive at a spot near a private hospital in Sector 66 on Friday evening. He picked up her on his bike and took to a house in Sector 62, promising her that they would meet Anil to get the money.
The woman said Anil was already in the room when they arrived. “The two men then held me captive and raped me. They threatened me with dire consequences when I resisted them,” she said. The accused fled from the spot after committing the crime.
The woman dialed 100 and informed police about the case. A police team rushed to the spot and sent the woman to district hospital for medical examination, reports of which are awaited.
Jitendra Kumar, SHO, Phase III police station, said a case of gang rape, voluntarily causing hurt and criminal intimidation under Sections 364 D, 323 and 506 of IPC has been registered. “Primary investigation revealed that the woman and one of the accused knew each other. We conducted a search but the men are at large. The accused will be arrested soon,” he said.
